Product Description

May 5-9 WEEKDAYS (Mon-Fri) : 3 to 5 pm (2 hours ON ALL DAYS)

I'm sure everyone loves to drink coffee from a beautiful ceramic mug, What if we told you, you can make the cup that you're going to drink coffee with?

We're not kidding.

You can make an amazing piece you can take home with inlays done with pressed flowers, leaves, and more. You'll learn to work with both Earthenware (terracotta clay) and Stoneware (ceramic clay) in this 5-day masterclass and gain confidence in this absolutely healing and calming art form.

Pottery is an exciting art form that doesn't require any artistic talent or experience. Just feel your hands move on clay, work on the wheel and have your creation fired so you can collect a few weeks later. Make your own 1 Glazed mug, and 1 Terracotta cup on the pottery wheel and you'll be surprised with the results. This is totally beginner-friendly and suitable for ages 13 to adult.

What will you learn?

Day 1 to 3:

Introduction to pottery and clay preparation.

What is pottery, what are the different types of clay, and the process of how a lump of clay is transformed into art?

Learn about the therapeutic and health benefits of pottery.

Introduction to wheel pottery and technical details

Practice cylinder shape on the wheel

Learn how to wedge, center, pull and shape clay into small planters or pots on the pottery wheel.

Introduction to hand-building techniques like pinching, coiling, and slab work.

Day 4 & 5:

Learn about ceramics, what is glazing, what is an underglaze, and other technical aspects.

The knowledge of how it is fired and made into a final product. You'll focus on learning to make the perfect Mug.

Use leaves and flowers to get beautiful textures and use underglaze to hand-paint your final pieces.

We will then fire and apply a clear glaze to make it a functional piece for you to use.

Note:

All tools, materials, and clay will be provided for you during the workshop.

All the terracotta pieces made in the workshop can be taken back by participants on the same day, so please bring a shoe box with you. The Final 2 Glazed ceramics and 2 piece of Terracotta of your choice, will be fired and glazed and given to you (Please note you can only collect it after 1 month as it has to dry and go through 2 firing sessions in the Kiln). Therefore, a total of 2 items will be fired per participant. The rest of your creations you can take home.
